PETALING JAYA: Tengku Zafrul Aziz’s bold move to leave Umno and express his intention to join PKR has triggered political ripples — but PKR’s top brass says it’s not a done deal.
Despite the investment, trade, and industry minister’s public declaration, PKR secretary-general Fuziah Salleh confirmed no official application has been received.
“All applications must go through our online portal and undergo thorough vetting,” she emphasized, adding that the party will seek input from grassroots members and unity government allies before making a decision.
The former Umno Supreme Council member cited “compatibility and suitability” as reasons for his shift — but his political future now hangs in the balance, pending PKR’s internal processes.
Fuziah also extended PKR’s well wishes to Tengku Zafrul as he embarks on his hajj pilgrimage.
