Elon Musk Blames X Outage on Divided Focus, Vows to “Sleep in Server Rooms” as Hacker Group Claims Responsibility

WASHINGTON — Elon Musk is back in crisis mode after a major two-hour outage hit social media platform X on Saturday. The billionaire blamed the disruption on his recent divided focus and vowed to return to round-the-clock involvement in his companies, declaring:

“I must be super focused… back to sleeping in server rooms.”

The downtime, which began early Saturday, was reportedly triggered by a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack claimed by hacker group DieNet. The group labeled the hit as a “test” of its cyber arsenal. While X has yet to comment, cybersecurity firm SITE Intelligence Group said DieNet had taken credit.

The outage follows Musk’s partial withdrawal from his controversial role in President Trump’s “Department of Government Efficiency” — a short-lived political venture aimed at slashing federal spending. Critics pointed to rising backlash and falling Tesla stock as reasons for Musk’s pullback.

Despite stepping back from Washington, Musk remains politically tied, having donated over $235 million to Trump’s campaign and even attending an Oval Office meeting with South Africa’s president just this week.

With critical rollouts for X, xAI, and Tesla, and a Starship launch set for next week, Musk says it’s time to double down:

“Major operational improvements need to be made… the failover redundancy should have worked, but did not.”

Stay tuned – the world’s busiest billionaire isn’t slowing down, but he’s definitely shifting gears.
