At the 54th National Teachers’ Day celebration, Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek emphasized that the event is more than a symbolic gesture—it’s a catalyst for improving Malaysia’s education system. Speaking at the awards ceremony on Saturday, she stressed that true educational reform starts in the classroom, where teachers and students engage daily to create meaningful learning experiences.
“School reform begins in the classroom, the most critical space for shaping the direction of learning,” Fadhlina said, as quoted by Bernama. She expressed deep appreciation for teachers, stating, “Thank you to all our educators for teaching with genuine dedication. May your efforts build a solid foundation for enhancing the nation’s education quality.”
Fadhlina highlighted that the ceremony honored teachers who introduced impactful innovations in education, noting that she personally reviewed nominations and even added awards to recognize deserving educators. “These honors should motivate others, and together, we can strengthen the teaching profession,” she added.
Awards presented included the Special Education Award, Innovative Teacher Award, Iconic Teacher Award, Distinguished Teacher Award, Special Award for Language Excellence, and the Minister of Education’s Special Award. Winners received certificates, plaques, and cash prizes of RM3,000, RM1,000, or RM500, depending on the category.
