PKR president and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called on all candidates vying for positions in the party’s Central Leadership Council to conduct their campaigns with decorum and mutual respect.
Speaking during the launch of PKR’s new office in Langkawi, Anwar reminded party members that despite differences in opinion, all candidates have made significant contributions and sacrifices for the party.
“These individuals have done much good for the party. I urge everyone to be mindful in their remarks and not forget the efforts and dedication shown by fellow comrades,” he said.
Anwar acknowledged that some candidates, particularly those contesting for vice-president and deputy president roles, may be younger, but they too have undergone many challenges and have proven their loyalty to the party.
“Even when disagreements arise, it is essential to maintain respect and not undermine each other,” he added.
He also emphasized that he is not overly concerned about the internal competition, noting that many of the contenders are long-serving and committed party members.
“We should not escalate tensions during these elections. Let us strive to settle any disputes in a mature and amicable manner,” Anwar said.
He concluded by urging all candidates to put aside rivalries once the elections are over and to foster an environment of mutual respect, reconciliation, and collective progress.
