PETALING JAYA, 24 May 2025 — PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called for calm and unity within party ranks following internal friction between Rafizi Ramli and Nurul Izzah Anwar during the deputy presidency campaign.
Acknowledging that both his deputy hopefuls had “overstepped at times,” Anwar reminded members to rise above factionalism for the greater good of the party.
“I see that both parties have overstepped at times, so let us not punish each other. As a father figure, I offer advice to everyone,” Anwar said, striking a conciliatory tone.
The PKR president’s remarks come amid growing chatter among grassroots members, some of whom had expressed frustration over personal attacks and aggressive rhetoric during the campaign period.
By stepping in, Anwar aims to reset the tone and refocus the party’s energies on its broader reform agenda ahead of key national challenges.
Political observers view his statement as a timely reminder of PKR’s roots in unity and justice, values the president insists must guide the party forward.
