Datuk and Two Aides Nabbed by MACC Over RM48,000 Fake Food Supply Claims

PETALING JAYA: A high-profile managing director bearing a Datuk title, along with two of his employees, has been remanded for two days by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Kedah branch over suspected false claims amounting to RM48,000.

According to sources, the trio—two men and a woman, all in their 50s—were detained between 4pm and 5pm yesterday after voluntarily showing up at the Kedah MACC office to provide statements.

The main suspect is alleged to have masterminded the scheme between 2020 and 2023, involving fictitious claims for the supply of raw, wet, and dry food to national security forces stationed at frontline posts. Authorities believe no actual supplies were delivered despite the claims.

MACC sources revealed that the other two suspects, employees of the supply company, are believed to have assisted in the fabrication and submission of the bogus claim documents.

Kedah MACC director Ahmad Nizam Ismail confirmed the arrests, noting that the case is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009, which deals with the offence of making false claims.

The case underscores ongoing efforts to clamp down on corruption and fraudulent activities involving public funds.
