PETALING JAYA – Malaysia’s top men’s doubles pairs, Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik and Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun, proved that winning titles is sweeter when shared — by celebrating their recent victories with the entire men’s doubles squad on a refreshing team retreat to Genting Highlands.
In a heartfelt gesture of gratitude, both pairs took the initiative to appreciate their teammates’ behind-the-scenes support — acknowledging that their own success is part of a greater team effort within the national camp.
National doubles coaching director Rexy Mainaky confirmed the retreat, explaining that it was designed to not only celebrate achievements but to boost team morale and unity before the next string of international tournaments.
“This getaway was about more than just relaxation. It’s about strengthening team spirit, building motivation, and showing appreciation for the team’s collective journey,” said Rexy.
The past month has indeed been a golden chapter for Malaysian men’s doubles.
Aaron-Wooi Yik, after being crowned Asian champions, went on to seize the Thailand Open title and continued their blistering form by clinching the Singapore Open crown soon after.
Meanwhile, the dynamic duo of Wei Chong-Kai Wun etched their names in glory by defeating their senior counterparts in an all-Malaysian final at the Malaysian Masters in Kuala Lumpur. Earlier in the year, they had also emerged victorious at the Indonesian Masters in Jakarta’s iconic Istora Senayan.
With medals on their necks and team spirit at an all-time high, Malaysia’s badminton stars are clearly smashing not only shuttles — but limits.
